Helvetikett AG is one of the top label printing companies in Switzerland. Under the motto “Premium products, genuine Swiss quality,” the company offers customized solutions and enhanced products for discerning customers from various industries. The need to implement an inspection solution resulted from the replacement investment of an existing EyeC system with a successor model, which is required for mandatory off-line inspections in quality assurance.

In addition, the decision in favor of a new system was influenced by the introduction of various ISO certifications, which required specific qualities of the new device. “One of our core competencies is to quickly identify opportunities for improvement and take the necessary measures to further expand our technological leadership,” says Pascal Stieger, head of quality management at Helvetikett AG. “Accordingly, we knew what requirements the new device had to fulfil to avoid potential problems in quality assurance.”

In order to continue to ensure Helvetikett’s quality standards, the search for a suitable inspection solution was a crucial step. After extensive research and evaluation of various options, the EyeC Proofiler 600 DT was chosen. The choice of the scanner-based system in A2 format was influenced by various convincing factors, including its ease of use, considerable time savings in the inspection process and the expertise already gained from many years of using the previous system. 

The EyeC Proofiler 600 DT is used daily by employees for quality assurance. The system enables documented off-line inspections that are customized to specific customer requirements. It combines the power of intelligent software with the performance of a high-resolution scanner, enabling ultra-fast sample inspection. The inspection is uncomplicated, fast, objective and reproducible. The system also complies with the ISO certifications and regulations required by customers, such as ISO 9001, ISO 15378 (GMP) or FSSC 22000.

Since the first implementation in 2006 and continuous software updates of the EyeC Proofiler 600 DT, Helvetikett AG has already achieved significant advantages in its inspection processes. Compared to the previous model, the inspection cycles have become around 40% faster – a considerable time saving for employees and increased efficiency for the entire production process. In addition, the system enables accurate foreign language and code checks, including 1D and 2D codes, further increasing the flexibility and precision of the checks. The EyeC Proofiler 600 DT also allows for more precise checking of multi-layer samples. This leads to a significant reduction in the error rate and at the same time ensures that all products meet the high quality standards of Helvetikett AG.

“The collaboration with EyeC has not only had a positive impact on quality assurance but has also improved the entire production chain,” explains Stieger. “This rapid success was favored above all by the simple and familiar operation and the competent training provided by the responsible EyeC service engineer Franz Manegold.”

In the future, Helvetikett AG plans to further expand the use of the EyeC Proofiler 600 DT. In collaboration with EyeC, additional training courses are to be offered to employees in order to further optimize quality assurance and exploit the full potential of the system.
